A Trip to Hogenakkal Falls

Hogenakkal Falls – Niagra falls of India

Hogenakkal is a waterfall in South India on the Kaveri river in the Dharmapuri district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.It is located 180 km (110 mi) from Bangalore, 147 km (91 mi) from Kolar and 46 km (29 mi) from Dharmapuri.Sometimes referred to as the “Niagara Falls of India,” – Wikipedia

We visited Hogenakkal falls on the month of November, 2019. As per the guide, the season is March April. We started from Hosur, Tamil Nadu. It is around 95 km from Hosur. We booked a cab and it took two and half hours to reach Hogenakkal from Hosur.

After reaching there you need to book Coracles – Round basketlike boats made of bamboo. If you pay extra bucks then the boatman will take you to the actual beauty.

You can buy chips, cold drinks, foods from the Floating Shop. Also there are small islands, where hot and fresh fish fry is available.

The boatman took us to a nice place where we took bath under the waterfall. The fishes were doing pedicure. The feeling was really awesome. You will feel like Heaven is here only.

We spend around two hours there… and not felt boared for a single moment.

Now it’s time to return. Though we are not in the mood of coming back… but we had to as all the boats need to return with in 5 p.m.

While returning the view of sunset at Kaveri river was very beautiful. Have a look below.

It was once in a lifetime experience. If you visit Bangalore or any nearby place, you should visit Hogenakkal once.
